The company was founded many years ago by S. Duncan Black and Alonzo G Decker. These two young entrepreneurs started out with a small machine shop in Baltimore Maryland. This shop known as the Black & Decker manufacturing company was the start of an ever growing and devolping business over the years and was the start of the world recognised company we know today. One of the more well known innovations in recent years was the Black & Decker workmate which enjoyed great popularity and has seen it's 25th anniversary. In the field of power tools the company also indruduced its Gel Tech range in 2003 which incorporated a unique grip designed to maximse comfort for the user for various power tools including cordless drills.
